The Foundation will be a grant giving institution and a learning system for best practices within the industry of orphanages striving to raise future leaders. The Foundation will contribute to the stabilization of Watoto Villages then expand contributions to include other partners and grant recipients on a need and merit basis.

Starting in 2011, the Watoto Leadership Foundation will accept applications from registered charities that correspond to established Watoto Village Models (See Below). This model has gained the attention of other social organizations due to the outstanding results of its holistic rehabilitation, managing the problem of orphanhood and the raising of future leaders.

The Watoto Leadership Foundation will raise funds in Canada and then distribute these funds to Watoto Villages in Uganda through Watoto Canada, the Watoto Leadership Foundations parent organization. The Vision of the Watoto Leadership Foundation is to develop those with no other means for support into compassionate community leaders. The Foundation will accomplish this vision through mechanisms of educational, environmental, economic and social leadership development; improve aid predictability, and enhance coordination at the country level. In 2011, focus will expand beyond Watoto Villages to other organizations following a similar model of social development. Agencies must submit an application and report on the progress of any granted money. Particular emphasis on charities that advance the education, health and welfare of children in Africa will take priority.
